Ginger, turmeric and orange immunity shot

April 30th, 2022

Is there a better way to start the day than a fresh ginger shot. I have been loving making these at the beginning of the week and having a shot first thing in the morning- they are refreshing, tangy, full of nutritional benefits and a great kick to start the day. These ginger shots are super easy to make, a fraction of the price of store bought immunity shots and made from only 5 simple ingredients; orange, raw ginger, raw turmeric, lemon and black pepper (to help turmeric absorption).

These immunity shots have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits, supporting cell health, brain function and support easy digestion.

Oranges have a high vitamin C content (about 53mg per 100g). Vitamin C is a potent antioxidant and prevents cell damage. Oranges also contain calcium, folate and potassium which supports bone health, DNA synthesis and regulate muscle function.

Ginger contains a bioactive component gingerol which has both antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Ginger has also been observed to reduces nausea and aids digestion.

Turmeric contains a potent anti-inflammatory and antioxidant ingredient curcumin which also boosts brain derived neurotropic factor (BDNF), which improves memory, attention and brain function. Black pepper can improve turmeric absorption by 2000% (yes you read that right, 2000%) so don’t forgot to include this in recipes with turmeric to get the most out of it (olive oil can also aid absorption).

Lemon also provides a high content of vitamin C (31mg) and is naturally detoxifying and alkalising which promotes digestion and efficient bowel function.

If you love citrusy and spicy flavours, you will LOVE these!! I can’t get enough. If you do give these a go please let me know, I would love for your feedback.

Now.. lets get to the recipe.
